Duan Shuqi, Mu Jinqiao, Wang Jianhui: "Orthodox Dai Family Xinyiquan" set of VCDs:
Item XYD1-11 |
Dai Family Xinyiquan is one of the rarest and secret
branches of Mind and Intent Boxing. Created by Dai Longbang in 18th
century the system was originally passed only within the family, but in
early 20th century Dai Kui and Dai Hongxun began to teach students from
outside. Because of strict rules regulating the teaching process and very
conservative attitude of its practitioners the style is still hardly known
outside of Shanxi Province. Dai Family Xinyiquan is often considered the
mother style for Hebei and Shanxi Xingyiquan. The system is famous for its
focus on Iinternal Skill (Neigong) and Dantian development This is
the very first set of VCDs not only showing but also explaining in great
detail - many unique - and so far considered secret - practice methods of
the system as well as its main techniques - Five Elements Fists, Ten
(Animal) Shapes, routines, weapons and applications. Techniques are shown
from different angles, explained in a step-by-step, easy-to-follow way
with stress on the way the body, hands and steps move and their
coordination. The release of this set of VCDs can be considered a
milestone in revealing the methods of this rare style. Mr Dun Shuqi is son
of Duan Xian and grand-disciple of Dai Hongxun. Click

Xiao Jiaping: "Santi-based Xingyiquan of Dai Family" set of VCDs:
Item XJP1-8 |
The set presents almost unknown branch of Dai Family
Xingyi practiced in north-eastern China. Unlike the orthodox system
presented in the
above set, it is based on rare-weighted Santi posture and close shows
similarity to popular Hebei and Shanxi Xingyi styles. This particular
branch was taught by late Chen Mingjie; originally from Qi County (Dai
clan hometown) Chen was one of the earliest students of Dai Kui, one of
the last Dai clan members who mastered the family art. According to the
practitioners of this branch, the martial art of Dai family included not
only the famous Squatting Monkey exercise, but also Santi and Holding
Water (Ti Shui) Standing Postures. The techniques taught within
this branch, although similar to popular Xingyi, show contraction and
expansion of the body typical to Dai Family Xinyi. All movements are shown
from different angles and are accompanied by clear, step-by-step
instructions. The set is demonstrated by Xiao Jiaping, disciple of Chen
Mingjie and inheritor of the style, vice-president of Shenyang Martial
Arts Association: Note: Entire set (8 discs/8 boxes) is sold for discounted price of USD65.00 (costs of Handling and Shipping by Airmail INCLUDED). |

Gao Tingyi: "Bagua Boxing of Emperor Fuxi" set of VCDs:
Item FX1/4 |
Bagua Boxing of Emperor Fuxi (Fuxi Baguaquan), also called Pre-heaven Bagua Boxing, is a rare internal martial art practiced in rural areas of Henan Province. It belongs to Kunlun branch of Chinese martial arts. Its guiding theory is based on Pre-heaven Eight Trigrams (Xiantian Ba Gua) created by legendary emperor Fuxi. Hence the style in its movements and fighting strategy uses the idea of Yin and Yang - combines movement with stillness, fast movements with slow ones; "slow movement is like movement of the sun and the moon, fast movement is like that of meteors"; when the hand strikes it is "like an arrow leaving the bow", the hand returns as if "the tips of fingers were burnt by fire". The style is practiced along straight lines, emphasizes power releasing, dodging, opening, moving fast; whole body is used in movement and the power has to reach toes and fingers. The material is demonstrated by 74-year old Gao Tingyi, expert of the style and its inheritor in 6th generation. Mr Gao has been practicing martial arts since the age of 6 and learnt Bagua Boxing from famous master Yang Tingbi. He is accompanied by his son Gao Yixue. This set is a rare opportunity to see a martial art that has never left its natural environment of Chinese countryside and hence has never been "polluted" by the need to make movements better looking and more flowery so that they would please more "sophisticated" city people or judges in competitions. Please note that Bagua Boxing presented on this set is not the same style as Baguazhang (Eight Trigram Palm) The instructions cover not only the choreography of
movements but also their fighting applications. Note: Entire set (4 discs/4 boxes) is sold for discounted price of USD38.00 (costs of Handling and Shipping by Airmail INCLUDED). |

You Mingsheng: "Songxi Neijiaquan" set of VCDs:
Items YMS1-8 |
This set of VCDs presents ancient Neijiaquan demonstrated by Mr You Mingsheng, one of the leading experts of the system in China. According to texts from 17th century Songxi Neijiaquan was created by Zhang Sanfeng and later systemized and taught by Zhang Songxi, whose fighting skills at the time were superior to his contemporaries. Some methods of the Songxi Neijiaquan system were already recorded in General Qi Jiguang's famous "Boxing Classic" written 500 years ago. The system was later taught in Sichuan Province where it incorporated certain methods from eight local schools of fighting. Because it was only secretly taught to limited number of students, the style has not changed much in the last centuries and is considered a "living remain" among Chinese martial arts. It is a very unique system very different from "modern" internal styles of Taiji, Bagua and Xingyi. Its theory is based on combining softness with hardness, slow and fast movements, use softness to neutralize and hardness to strike; it uses round footwork to approach the opponent from the side; its fighting methods are constructed in a way allowing to switch from strike to grasp and then finish the technique with throw. Weapons methods focus on using long weapons in close range, sticking to the opponent and hurting him. You Mingsheng who demonstrates and explains techniques on this set, is one of most famous experts of the style and was honored as one of "One Hundred Famous Wudang Masters: 1.Six Steps Boxing - First Routine of Close
Range Boxing (Songxi Duanda Yi Lu - Liu Bu Quan, ancient routine
recorded in Qi Jiguang's writings; short set, relatively easy to learn;
develops striking and throwing skills; the movements are relaxed, power

Item PTM1&2 |
Pushing Hands is a part of traditional
Taijiquan teaching curriculum. The individual practice of the form teaches
one to "know oneself", to learn the correct movement, footwork, to
establish proper structure; Pushing Hands (Tui Shou) is a method to "know
the enemy". It is an exercise with partner which develops skills of
"listening to the opponent" so that one can feel opponent's strength, its
direction, and learn how to stick to him, follow his movement, how not to
resist against incoming force. The set first explains the goals and theory
of Pushing Hands, then teaches its basic methods for individual practice,

Item CSB1-8 |
Cheng style is one of the most popular branches of Baguazhang (Eight Trigram Boxing) coming from Cheng Tinghua, one of the most famous disciples of Dong Haichuan. Because of Cheng's background in Shuai Jiao (Chinese Wrestling) the style's methods - apart from standard striking, kicking and grabbing - is rich in throwing techniques. Its basic skills are built upon the fundament of circle walking; the routines are performed in a very smooth, swimming-like manner, with focus on twisting of the whole body which is compared to the way legendary dragon moves - hence another name for Cheng style - "Swimming Body" or "Dragon Form" Baguazhang. While Cheng Tinghua taught many students, the orthodox Cheng style was passed only to his sons (Cheng Youlong, Cheng Youxin), nephew (Cheng Yousheng) and a few of his disciples. Cheng style Baguazhang system presented on this set of VCDs is demonstrated by Ma Lincheng, 4th generation of the style, disciple of master Xu Lifang. Xu Lifang learnt from Cheng Youlong, Cheng Youxin and Cheng Yousheng and his style in its core is probably the closest to that taught by Cheng Tinghua. 1."Basic Methods" (Ji Ben Gong;

Xu Tianxiang, Chen Zhenhong: "Taiji Ancestor - Hongdong Tongbei Quan" VCD:
Item HTQ1-11 |
Hongdong Tongbei Quan - also known as Wuji Tongbei Coiling Boxing - is a rare martial art practiced mainly in Hongdong County in Shanxi province. One of the theories of its origins links the style to Guo Yongfu from Henan, probably a member Chen family from Chenjiagou famous for their Chen Style Taijiquan. "General Theory of Boxing Classic" is a text that is shared by both Hongdong Tongbei Boxing and Long Fist Boxing of Chen family. Hongdong Tongbei Boxing combines features of both internal and external styles. Its principles require the practitioner to release power from the back; the movements should be big, neither too stiff nor too soft; it is also called "Coiling Boxing" because of using coiling as core fighting method; the other meaning of coiling is to coil around the opponent with constantly changing attacks until the opponent is defeated; the power should be "cold, fast, crispy, hard, continuous, elastic"; the hardness should be coupled with softness - hard as steel, soft as cotton, using hardness to strike opponent's weak areas and softness to neutralize his hardness; special attention is given to ability to change, responding swiftly to opponent's changes, sharp reflexes and right timing. Hongdong Tongbei system includes Mother Boxing (Mu Quan i.e. famous Long Fist Boxing in 108 Postures of Chen Family), Sons Boxing (Zi Quan), weapons and two persons routines. The system also contain a large number of supplementary methods developing physical strength, hardness of feet and hands, flexibility. Demonstrated by Xu Tianxiang, 9th generation inheritor of the style and vice-president of Hongdong Tongbei Boxing Research Association. Interesting material not only to those who want to learn the Hongdong Tongbei system, but also to Chen Style Taijiquan practitioners. 1."Hongdong Tongbei Coiling

Li Junde: "Qing Ping Sword" set of VCDs:
Items QP1-6 |
Straight Sword has always been one of the most respected weapons China, often associated with power and high social status, carried by generals, high rank officials and scholars. Sword is often referred to as "the master of one hundred weapons" and is considered one of the most difficult weapons to learn and use effectively. Qing Ping sword is one of the oldest known classical sword styles. Its name appears in texts from Han and Tang dynasties, including poems by Li Bai. Legend recorded in old sword manuals traces its origins to Tiger and Dragon Mountains (Long Hu Shan) in Jiangxi Province, one of craddles of Taoism in China, where it was created by a Taoist Pan Yuangui. Pan taught it to Men Jiaohua from Shandong, who in turn passed it to Feng Xitang. Feng in turn taught it to Yang Elin, who was the first layman - not a Taoist priest - to learn Qing Ping Sword method. Later one the sword was taught mainly among Six Harmonies and Lost Track Boxing practitioners in Hebei Province. Qing Ping Sword is divided into six routines and contains 175 recorded postures - although in fact there are often 2 or 3 postures under one name. The sets are studied from the simplest First Routine to most complex Sixth Routine. It contains 16 basic sword methods which focus on using superior technique instead of strength to defeat the opponent; the practice of Qing Ping Sword develops coordination of hands, eyes, body and footwork; the postures vary from high to very low and stress the strength of legs and waist; the footwork is agile, waist must turn at will, wrist be flexible. Li Junde: "Six Harmonies Boxing" set of VCDs:
Items SHB1-17 |
Six Harmonies Boxing is one of the oldest Chinese martial arts that have been transmitted until today. It was mentioned in General Qi Jiguang's famous treatise on martial arts in 16th century. It has produced many renowned martial artists like Wang Ziping or Tong Zhongyi. The style is named after Six Harmonies of the body: harmony between eyes and mind, gut and strength, Qi and blood, body and hands, hands and feet, feet and hips; however some of this branches relate the name to six directions or names of six creators of the system. It is characterized by strong techniques, focus on hard power, big movements tightly linked together; clear combat methods based on sudden changes; in fighting the practitioner of Six Harmonies Boxing after a strike uses a seizing technique which is then followed by a throw. In all of its practice methods the system emphasizes Six Harmonies - coordination of legs, waist and shoulders - as well as controlled breathing. The set is the most complete instructional video material presenting Liu He Boxing. Demonstrated by Li Junde from Cangzhou in Hebei Province (one of the most famous for martial arts places in China), member of Cangzhou Practical Fighting Association, Cangzhou Muslim Martial Arts School, inheritor of the orthodox Six Harmonies Boxing and Qing Ping Sword. Yue Wu: "Martial Arts from Wudang Mountains" set of VCDs:
Item YWW1-13 |
This set presents chosen routines belonging mainly to Chunyang (Pure Yang) Boxing system as well as to other styles coming also from Wudang Mountains. Chunyang Boxing was taught to late master Liu Lihang (who passed away at the age of 100) by Wang Zhidao, Taoist monk from Wudang. Wang Zhidao learnt the style in Purple Cloud Temple in Wudang Mountains in 19th century. The style shows similarities to Taiji (focus on softness, and slow, continuous movement), Xingyi (hand techniques) and Bagua (circular, lively footwork), but has its own distinctive features. It emphasizes softness, lightness, relaxation; all movements are either circular or follow curves; footwork is agile and steps often follow the pattern of Taiji. Wang Zhenhua: "Chen Family Taiji Long Fist in 108 Postures" Book&VCD:
Item WZH |
The typical empty hand curriculum of
most popular branches of Chen style Taijiquan coming from Chen Zhaopei
(Old Frame) and Chen Fake (New Frame) includes First Set and Second Set;
Small Frame includes also Long Fist Boxing which was incorporated into
their curriculum quite recently - in 1970s. This set however - released by
Wang Zhenhua, disciple of Chen Zhaokui - reveals a Long Fist Routine which
was taught by Chen Fake's son to a few of his disciples only. The release
of this material denies the common thesis that since Chen Changxing's
times Chen Clan have practiced only two Sets and Long Fist Boxing has been
forgotten and lost. The book contains detailed explanations and
instructions of the movements of Chen Family Taiji Long Fist in 108
Postures, with special attention to Dantian rotations. It is fully
illustrated with clear photos and arrows showing direction of the
movements. The VCD shows demonstration of the routine shot from two angles
- front and rear. This is very interesting material not only for self
study of this rare routine, but also for comparisons and better
understanding of how Chen Family Boxing has evolved into the form we can
see now. |
