The set is demonstrated by Mr Wang Shangzhi, vice-president of Beijing Baguazhang Research Association and 4th generation inheritor of the style. Ma Lincheng: "Cheng Tinghua Style Baguazhang" set of VCD: | ||
Item CSB1-8 |
Cheng style is one of the most popular branches of Baguazhang (Eight Trigram Boxing) coming from Cheng Tinghua, one of the most famous disciples of Dong Haichuan. Because of Cheng's background in Shuai Jiao (Chinese Wrestling) the style's methods - apart from standard striking, kicking and grabbing - is rich in throwing techniques. Its basic skills are built upon the fundament of circle walking; the routines are performed in a very smooth, swimming-like manner, with focus on twisting of the whole body which is compared to the way legendary dragon moves - hence another name for Cheng style - "Swimming Body" or "Dragon Form" Baguazhang. While Cheng Tinghua taught many students, the orthodox Cheng style was passed only to his sons (Cheng Youlong, Cheng Youxin), nephew (Cheng Yousheng) and a few of his disciples. Cheng style Baguazhang system presented on this set of VCDs is demonstrated by Ma Lincheng, 4th generation of the style, disciple of master Xu Lifang. Xu Lifang learnt from Cheng Youlong, Cheng Youxin and Cheng Yousheng and his style in its core is probably the closest to that taught by Cheng Tinghua. 1."Basic Methods" (Ji Ben Gong;
detailed explanations of basic steps; basic footwork: Mud Wading
Footwork, Natural Footwork, Snake Footwork; basic palm forms and
techniques; basic method: Eight Big Turning Palms - Ba Da Zhuan Zhang,
also known as Eight Fixed Palms), (1 disc/1 box), USD8.50 (Sh&H not
included) Note: Entire set (9 discs/8 boxes) is sold for discounted price of USD85.00 (costs of Handling and Shipping by Airmail INCLUDED). |
