Wang Zhenhua: "Chen Family Taiji Long Fist in 108 Postures" Book&VCD:
Item WZH |
The typical empty hand curriculum of
most popular branches of Chen style Taijiquan coming from Chen Zhaopei
(Old Frame) and Chen Fake (New Frame) includes First Set and Second Set;
Small Frame includes also Long Fist Boxing which was incorporated into
their curriculum quite recently - in 1970s. This set however - released by
Wang Zhenhua, disciple of Chen Zhaokui - reveals a Long Fist Routine which
was taught by Chen Fake's son to a few of his disciples only. The release
of this material denies the common thesis that since Chen Changxing's
times Chen Clan have practiced only two Sets and Long Fist Boxing has been
forgotten and lost. The book contains detailed explanations and
instructions of the movements of Chen Family Taiji Long Fist in 108
Postures, with special attention to Dantian rotations. It is fully
illustrated with clear photos and arrows showing direction of the
movements. The VCD shows demonstration of the routine shot from two angles
- front and rear. This is very interesting material not only for self
study of this rare routine, but also for comparisons and better
understanding of how Chen Family Boxing has evolved into the form we can
see now. |

Xiao Tieseng: "Internal Martial Arts of Xiao Family - Imperial Yang Style Taijiquan" set of VCDs:
Items XTS1-11
|
Internal Martial Arts of Xiao Family include Yang Style Taijiquan, Bagua and Xingyi. It was Xiao Gongzhuo, who became famous for his skills in internal martial arts and started the tradition of teaching them within the clan. Xiao Gongzhuo practiced martial arts since childhood under guidance of his father, late Qing dynasty military official. At the age of sixteen he started to learn Chinese wrestling and Shaolin Boxing from Zhang Fengyan; later he studied Cheng style Baguazhang from Li Wenbiao, Tongbei Boxing from Zhan Ce (nicknamed "Divine Hand"), Hao style Taijiquan from Hao Weizhen, Li style Taijiquan from Li Ruidong, as well as very rare Funei (Imperial) branch of Yang style Taijiquan from Fu Jiechen. This set of VCDs is presented by Xiao Tieseng, son of Xiao Gongzhuo and current inheritor of the style; it focuses on Imperial Yang style Taijiquan. According to practitioners of this style this was the original art that Yang Luchan taught just after he arrived to Beijing, and which included ten sets. The versions popular now were all modified by Yang Banhou (Yang Luchan's son), who was upset that his father taught the complete art openly, and decided to spread a trimmed version that had only one Large Frame set. While this story is hard to verify, this set presents a rare version of Yang style and introduces many methods not existing in its more popular branches: 1.Wudang Health Preserving Methods (Wudang
Yangsheng Gongfa,
set of exercises improving balance, flexibility and developing internal
power; include Small Internal Method, Five Elements Methods, etc.); (1
disc/1 box), USD9.00 (Sh&H not included) Note: Entire set (16 discs/13 boxes) is sold for discounted price of USD128.00 (costs of Handling and Shipping by Airmail INCLUDED). |

Li Hongqi: "Traditional Old Frame and Sparring of Wu (Yuxiang) Style Taijiquan" set of VCDs:
Items LHQ1-2
|
Wu (Yuxiang) Style Taijiquan is still one of the less known of six main styles of the art. Its compact postures require that hands do not move above eyebrows level or further than feet; each hand protects one half of the body; its footwork is as strict as Chinese calligraphy; in fighting it stresses importance of powers, not specific techniques. The style, created by Wu Yuxiang on the basis of his studies with Yang Luchan and Chen Qingping, has been further developed and perfected by Li Yiyu (Wu's inheritor who authored many of Taiji calssics) and Li's descendants. This set introduces two sets of Wu Style Taijiquan - First Set - traditional Old Frame and passed by Wu Yuxiang as well as dynamic Second Set, similar to Chen style Cannon Fist.
